Connect WhatsApp Business
Sends WhatsApp messages from your own business number — an alert to you, or a confirmation to the customer.
Updated 2026-11-02
01What it does
- Rules: send a template message
- Rules: send a text reply
02What you need
- Access token — kept encrypted, never shown again. Meta Business settings → Users → System users → Generate token with whatsapp_business_messaging.
- Phone number ID. WhatsApp Manager → API Setup → Phone number ID (not the phone number itself).
03Connect it
- In Meta for Developers create an app (type Business) and add the WhatsApp product; add and verify your business phone number.
- In WhatsApp Manager → API Setup, copy the Phone number ID.
- In Meta Business settings → Users → System users, add a system user, assign it the app and WhatsApp account, and Generate token with whatsapp_business_messaging (choose Never expire).
- In WhatsApp Manager → Message templates, create a template (e.g. new_enquiry) and wait for approval.
- In your site → Manage → Integrations, choose WhatsApp Business, paste the token and Phone number ID, and press Connect.
- Open the Rules tab in your site → Manage → Integrations, choose an event (e.g. "Form submitted") and pick an action from this tool. The fields are pre-filled from the form; glance, then save. Numbers go with country code and no + (919876543210).
04Check it works
- The card shows Working.
- A test rule run delivers the template to your own phone.
05If it does not work
- Free-text message never arrives — Business-initiated messages must be approved templates. Text replies only deliver within 24 hours of the customer's last message.
- 190 — access token expired — You pasted the temporary 24-hour token from API Setup. Generate a system user token instead.
- 132001 — template does not exist — Template name or language code differs from the approved template (e.g. en vs en_US).
